Venturing Crew 190 Attends the 2025 National Youth Leadership Training in Hidden Valley

One of the core values of venturing is leadership development. That's because we each play a part in planning and executing our vision for adventures. In order to do that, our crew takes various training to hone our skills and be better at doing what we do best: having fun!

From June 15-20, 2025, three of our crew members attended NYLT otherwise knows as National Youth Leadership Training held at Hidden Valley Scout Reservation near Loysville, PA. This course trained more than 40 boys and girls in the skills needed to carry out successful communication, planning, and meetings. This wasn't just boring seminars either. Each crew member was assigned a patrol. Patrols camped together and participated in various activites like competitions. Here two of our crew members show off their lashing skills by designing and building a flag pole with a weather rock base!

The weather rock remained "wet" for most of the week indicated preciptation but that didn't hinder their participation in this week-long adventure. Not only will they earn the coveted NYLT-trained badge, but they will also meet objectives to increase their ranks. As they gain knowledge an experience, it will enable us to go on even more adventures as we grow in numbers and confidence.
